Saturday Coffee Mug of the Week

31 January 2010

Can you identify with this sentiment? I can.

Last night I had way too much coffee. I ended up with a coffee hangover this morning… pounding head..dry mouth… Woke up with the thought… “I. Need.Coffee. Now.”

How much is too much? Apparently I had a quart and a half of coffee at a restaurant I was at. I will tell you about it a little later but the coffee was so amazing I could not stop…AND it was french pressed.

Anyway… check out today’s coffee mug…available at Amazon:

After I posted this…I remembered that it was Sunday. I took the weekend off and went away to a bed and breakfast..and totally lost count of the days…ooops. ;)

Coffee Break for Memory

28 January 2010

According to some researchers taking a coffee break after you learn something may help keep it in your head.

God knows, most of us need all the help we can get.  I think that for me it would mean taking a coffee break every three or four minutes, which actually doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. The question is, though, what type of coffee break are they talking about?

cappuccino

If I am going to take a coffee break, more than likely it will mean a specialty coffee in one of my special cups. I will want to add a cookie or something for a snack and I will want a period of time to enjoy it in leisure. I think this is what we miss out on in the United States really. We don’t take time to recharge.

I wonder if the memory boost is due to the coffee or to taking a break and allowing the mental batteries to recharge?

What is your preferred coffee break? Is it something quick like sipping coffee at your desk or is it something relaxing, like taking a few minutes to get away. Cookies? Muffin? Something else?

Try taking a coffee break and see if it helps things, “stick.’

Check Out This Vintage Valentine from Etsy

21 January 2010

I think vintage Valentine’s cards and decorations are awesome!  I was poking around Etsy and found this:

It is a Vintage Valentine’s Day tea towel! If you like decorating your kitchen for Valentine’s Day then this could be the start of a whole, new decor! Even if you don’t decorate something like this tucked into a tea basket with some scones and vintage cups would be adorable I think. The crafter does take special orders and I am guessing she knows where to get more of the vintage Valentine’s fabric, so if it is sold (which as cute as it is it may well be) before you get there shoot her an email and ask!

Gotta Love Frank…and His Coffee Crooning

14 January 2010

I am a sucker for oldies music. Anything from the 40s and 50s especially is my favorite. I love Big Band and Swing..and Sinatra. You can say a lot of things about Sinatra but you have to give him a big A-O.k. when it comes to how he feels about coffee.

Check it out…

Happy New Year, Y’all!

1 January 2010

I think that January first ought to also be an official coffee holiday. Seriously. How many people and gulping down the hot, black brew in attempt to undo the damage from New Years Eve?

I bet it is one of the best days of the year for coffee retailers.

espresso

I hope that you had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and are recuperating nicely. New Years Day is a great time to look at the past and let it go and free ourselves up for looking into the future with everything it promises. As you relax and enjoy your family and friends, take time to consider yourself - where you are going and where you have been. Don’t take life-clutter into the New Year with you. Let it go and free yourself up to move on.

Life clutter takes many forms:

  • Regret
  • Bitterness
  • Unforgiveness
  • Pessimism

There are so many more. You can make the choice to be anything you want to be. Your circumstances do not determine your happiness or your worth.

We have a whole year ahead of us to explore coffee and tea and other cool things. Enjoy your day but don’t stay away too long. You might miss something cool!

Happy New Year, Y’all.
