Bigelow Basket!

30 November 2009

A few days ago I got a basket full of tea and an adorable mug from the Bigelow company. The teas are fruit flavors with antioxidant properties. I will be reviewing them over the next couple of days. The teas are full of antioxidants and are as delicious as the are healthy.

Coffee Cup of the Week Nov 28

28 November 2009

Maybe you can resist this mug but there is no way I can. I loved the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs…and Grumpy was my favorite. C’mon… he just seemed deeper than the other dwarfs to me.  When you want to let people know how you really feel you may want this Grumpy Mug.

Village Tea Duo Oolong

25 November 2009

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would like to try Village Teas. My policy is to never turn down coffee, tea, chocolate, or flowers so I agreed.

village-tea

Disclaimer - this tea was sent to me without charge. I did not have to send it back when I was done. No money exchanged hands. No animals were harmed in the making of this post…I will probably drink more of the tea when I get done here.

The tea is in a little canister. Inside I found two muslin bags of tea:

  • Ginseng Oolong
  • Ginger Orange Oolong

and some organic paper envelopes for making tea by the cup.

The citrus and  and ginger flavor comes out nicely. It is delicate but not nonexistent. The tea is beautiful to look at as well. I am a freak about that, by the way..I not only want my tea to be good, I want it to be pretty. LOL!

It was refreshing and clean tasting. The flavors were nicely balanced. I liked it.  You can see the whole product line at Village Tea Company.

Morning Chatter Might Not Be So Bad

25 November 2009

In the 1970s my aunt and uncle, who had the “money” in the family bought a car that talked to them. A velvety voice told them to buckle up, lock their doors, and when it was time to get gasoline. After a month my uncle, old fashioned farm boy that he was, opened the hood, found the wires and put an end to “Harriet”. She never spoke again. No one missed her, least of all my uncle.

Imagine getting a coffee pot that talked to you. You get up in the morning place your order with the coffee pot and magically it all happens. Well it is real with the Primula Coffee maker. Yep, girls and boys it is called…The Speak and Brew.

talking-coffee

Shhh…it talks to you.

I don’t know. I think you almost have to be a  morning person to deal with this. I am a morning person and I am pretty sure a gabby coffee pot would draw rapid fire some mornings. I haven’t heard the voice, or what the options are…so I can’t tell you… Personally, I think that while  it could be irritating, there is also a lot of potential. I mean who can turn down a coffee maker with a voice like Sean Connery or Barry White that tells you you are looking fine? Ladies, imagine walking into the kitchen and hearing, “Hey baby, I am hot for you.”

See the potential there?

I thought so.

Anyway, it is just under $80.  Definitely worth a look - or a listen. I am just hoping it isn’t like those stuffed animals a decade ago that were programmed to “learn” and take their cues from your conversation. I am not sure I am ready for a coffee pot that develops its own personality.

22 November 2009

As I said on Baking Delights I had a tough week last week and ran woefully behind. However, being positive that the week ahead is going to  be awesome!

Maybe it is the fact that my husband left me a month ago..but I currently heart this mug…  I ran into my ex….

Adagio Teas Free Shipping Through Nov 30

19 November 2009

Adagio Teas is running free shipping on an order of $25 or more from now until the end of November, and the really cool thing is that you can schedule the delivery for any time.

mailboxes2So, if you want to get Christmas Tea and send it along with a teapot then you can order it now, save the shipping and schedule the delivery in December.  What a great idea?

I love Adagio. I have been buying their tea for several years, and used to send it to my daughter when she lived out of state. The favors are clean and clear and the variety of tea available is almost endless. I have never had one problem with them at all and often they have sent me coupons for discounts and free tea with my purchases.

If you want a holiday theme but the Christmas flavored tea doesn’t interest you consider:

Zhena Tea Gingerbread Chai

16 November 2009

I have to admit that this was a tea that Kyrie picked out and I was skeptical.  I thought that it would be maybe too sweet, too nursery, too something.

gingerbread chaiIn reality it was too awesome! If you like gingerbread you need to try this tea. Spicy, gingery, definitely chai, Zhena Tea Gingerbread Chai is a great way to get some down time on one of those shop ’til you drop afternoons. Sip it and you can just about hear Christmas carols and sleigh bells in the background.

Gingerbead Chai is organic, fair trade, and I may be thoroughly addicted. Add some steamed half and half and sugar for a gingerbread chai latte and I suspect you will be addicted too.  This is a great tea to tuck into a stocking for you favorite tea freak or keep it just for yourself  on that high shelf that noone else knows about. Yeah…that one.

Saturday Coffee Mug of the Week

14 November 2009

Remember sock moneys? Well today’s coffee mug of the week is a little unusual but perfect if you like monkeying around…

monkey-mugJust like the sock monkeys from the 1950s, this little guy is ready to listen to you complain or share a secret, and most of all…he is a perfect coffee date. It would be great tucked into a gift basket with a loaf of banana bread!

White Rhino Coffee Shop: Cedar Hill, Texas

14 November 2009

So, I am here at the White Rhino and  drinking two things at the moment. An espresso and a specialty drink called…The Sebastian.

white-rhinoThe White Rhino is situated in an older home in Cedar Hill. I am guessing the house was built in the 1930s - 40s… a bit of a transitional Arts and Crafts/ Atomic Age. The hardwood floors are warm welcoming and I could definitely see myself sitting here for hours, staring out the windows, drinking coffee and listening to the music…which is just the right blend of jazz/piano bar style.

The space is well laid out. They didn’t try to jam too many tables in but left lots of room for privacy and traffic flow.  There is a large t.v.  over the fireplace (sadly the fireplace doesn’t work) that is currently silently playing scenes from Mr. Bean’s Holiday.   (more…)
